The Haut-Saint-Laurent Route Bleue
The gateway to Ontario!

The city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield enjoys an enviable location on the upper St. Lawrence River, between Lake Saint-Louis and Lake Saint-François. This unique destination is situated on the water trail known as the “Route Bleue,” a navigable waterway designed for small, shallow-draft boats. Dotted along it are scores of islands with dense vegetation, offering beaches, protected sites, and recreational tourism activities, as well as rest, lodging and food-service areas.

What is a water trail? A water trail is a waterway network of launches, safe shelters, rest areas, and accommodation and food services, as well as rustic or commercial campsites. This navigable trail was designed for small, shallow-draft boats, especially sea kayaks. The water trails are charted but unmarked.
