Theater / Rock Opera | For secondary school students (grades 7-11) | Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes
Agamemnon In The Ring is a reimagining of the epic tale of the Three-Way War, transposed to the world of wrestling. Written in alexandrine verse, punctuated by rock opera songs and choreographed stage battles, the play blends grandeur, popular appeal, and the sacred.
Agamemnon, the king of Mycenae and reigning champion, announces the end of his wrestling career. During a gala evening, he is inducted into the Hall of Fame of the House of Mycenae; the entire family of the former champion attends the ceremony. While the evening unfolds without incident, two young wrestlers, unknown to the crowd, disrupt the proceedings and maliciously steal one of Agamemnon's trophies: his National Legion belt, a gift from his brother, Menelaus. Determined to defend his family's honor, Agamemnon will don his wrestling attire for a final battle that promises to be truly epic.
