Circuit of wrecks and several anchors to discover !

The Underwater Park is a discovery trail of sunken shipwrecks in the waters of Lake Saint-François. Around ten of them are accessible near downtown, the closest being the Charbonnier, located directly in the bay. It is possible to visit the Charbonnier as part of an introductory scuba diving session with EcoDive.

Scuba Diving Introduction and Wreck Visit

The 2-hour introductory session ends in the waters of Lake Saint-François with a visit to the coal barge wreck, a remnant of the former textile mill. All equipment is provided.

What is the coal barge?

It is a coal barge once used to transport fuel to the former textile mill, Montreal Cotton, now the site of Hôtel MOCO. Its bow and coal hold have attracted a wide variety of marine life. This wreck is also used for ice diving, thanks to its weak current and easy winter access.

A dive buoy marks its location in the bay.
Site coordinates: N 45° 15.501 / W 74° 08.481
