Les îles éoliennes - Rencontre avec Éliane et Pierre Dubois
Thirty years after traveling the world to film the planet’s greatest volcanoes, Pierre Dubois’s journey takes him once again to face the lava-spewing giants—this time in southern Italy, in a volcanic archipelago north of Sicily, in the Tyrrhenian Sea. There, he explores the seven Aeolian Islands, only two of which—Stromboli and Vulcano—harbor active volcanoes.
The Aeolian Islands have witnessed centuries of history shaped by various civilizations, boasting a rich cultural heritage. Yet they have not been spared from Saracen invasions, clashes between Islam and Christianity, and periods of famine.
All these islands belong to the same volcanic complex and can only be reached by boat, called the Aliscafo. Travelers glide through a whirlwind of colors and stunning landscapes, full of contrasts that give these islands their unique splendor and authenticity.
Follow Pierre and Eliane Dubois as they explore these Mediterranean gems—tiny volcanic islets born from the presence of the four elements: air, water, earth, and fire. With their sunny climate, crystal-clear waters, laid-back lifestyle, and exquisite cuisine, these islands will captivate anyone longing for a complete change of scenery.
